If you’ve been looking for a classic TJ with the desirable 4.0L inline-6 and 5-speed manual combination, this one is worth a look.
This Jeep has been driven regularly, runs and drives, and has had a significant amount of recent mechanical work completed. The A/C blows cold, the soft top is intact, and it is already lifted and set up with 33-inch Falken Wildpeak tires.

Recent Mechanical Work
A substantial amount of money has been spent recently on the Jeep, and I have receipts documenting the major repairs.
Recent work includes:
- Rear differential rebuilt
- Wheel bearings and seals replaced
- Spider gear / differential components replaced
- Front brakes replaced
- Rear brake shoes and drums replaced
- Shocks replaced
- Track bar replaced
- Steering gear replaced
The track bar and steering gear were replaced in June 2026, with approximately $1,100 spent on that work.
The rear differential work was approximately $1,200.
I have receipts for the major recent repairs and can provide additional photos of the documentation to serious buyers.
Current Condition
This is a 1997 Jeep, so it is not being represented as a perfect or restored vehicle.
Known cosmetic and mechanical items include:
- Clear-coat / paint deterioration on the hood
- Normal cosmetic wear consistent with age
- Some light oil residue visible underneath, but it does not leave oil on the ground
- There is currently a clicking sound when the steering wheel is rocked back and forth while stationary. The exact source has not yet been diagnosed.
The Jeep is currently driveable, and the steering click is being disclosed so buyers know exactly what they are considering.
The track bar and steering gear were both replaced recently, so the source may be related to steering or suspension hardware, but no specific diagnosis is being claimed.
Why This TJ Stands Out
The 4.0L / 5-speed manual combination is one of the most desirable configurations in the TJ generation.
This Jeep already has many of the upgrades buyers commonly add after purchase:
- Lift
- 33-inch all-terrain tires
- Aftermarket wheels
- Front and rear heavy-duty bumpers
- Tire carrier
- Recovery points
- Bluetooth audio
It has also already had several major mechanical items addressed, including the rear differential and steering components.
